hmmm my fav soup - impossible to pick one!!! Lets go with the turnip and carrot soup I just made. Recipe is hard since I made it myself. 3 turnips, 2 carrots and 1 apple - peeled and chopped, sauteed with one chopped onion. Then enough chicken broth to cover the veggies and simmer until soft, throw in some fresh thyme and bay leaf. (I use homemade sodium free broth). Then puree with hand held blender (remove thyme sprigs and bay leaf) and add to taste maple syrup and salt and pepper. You don't want it too sweet but just a hint so it ends up tasting about as sweet as squash soup.

Our Fav soup, Homemade Turkey Vegatable. Using as many veggies as possible. One way to get my son to eat his veggies and not complain. We accompany it with homemade Multi-Grain bread.
My favourite soup is a roasted squash and pumpkin soup with roasted red pepper, roasted garlic, carrots, celery, onion with chicken broth and cream (or milk). Add to this bacon bits, sour cream or yogurt (with a little nutmeg and cinnamon), and roasted pumpkin seeds and/or cashew nuts. A satisfying combination!!

My favourite soup is straight up - tomato. Preferably with a grilled cheese on the side;)
And one of my favourite soups to make it green lentil soup. It is super easy to make and so yummy I always make a double batch: http://kissmyspatula.com/2009/07/17/french-green-lentil-soup/
And one of my fave cookbooks is Love Soup with is filled with amazing seasonal vegetarian and vegan soups.
I almost always use a different recipe when I make butternut squash soup. This one from allrecipes.com is a good one:
Ingredients
2 tablespoons butter
1 small onion, chopped
1 stalk celery, chopped
1 medium carrot, chopped
2 medium potatoes, cubed
1 medium butternut squash - peeled, seeded, and cubed
1 (32 fluid ounce) container chicken stock
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Directions
1. Melt the butter in a large pot, and cook the onion, celery, carrot, potatoes, and squash 5 minutes, or until lightly browned. Pour in enough of the chicken stock to cover vegetables. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover pot, and simmer 40 minutes, or until all vegetables are tender.
2. Transfer the soup to a blender, and blend until smooth. Return to pot, and mix in any remaining stock to attain desired consistency. Season with salt and pepper.

Favorite soup is an old traditional Romanian beef marrow soup. Boil a few marrow bones with a piece of flavorful organic beef (ask the butcher for his best soup cut), skim when it starts foaming, add salt, a few peppercorn and boil for about 20 minutes. Ad 3-4 carrots, a slice (about 1/4) of a celery root, one parsley root (all washed and trimmed) and one onion. Boil on medium for another 20 minutes. In the meantime boil some favorite pasta - we like shells or elbows in my house; my mom used to make fresh egg noodles when we were growing up. Ladle some of the pasta before adding the soup through a strainer. My son loves to eat the carrots in the soup so I usually put a few extra ones, but my mom swears it makes the soup too sweet. Question of taste... I also do salt it a bit at the table. This has always been our alternative to chicken noodle soup...
Will head over to your FB page now, already subscribe via email.
I used to have a recipe for Thai roasted carrot soup - absolutely delish! - but I've lost the recipe :( Originally from the Vancouver Sun - so might be in their archives.

Soup recipe for carrot ginger soup (or carrot, orange vegetable ginger soup)
take a big pot
saute up some garlic ( I like about 3 cloves), onions (2 medium sized), about 2tbsp butter (or olive oil)
until soft
Meanwhile, peel and chop up as many carrots as you wish, at least 4-5 medium to large ones and feel free to add potatoes, or sweet potatoes or yams as well!!!
Peel and grate up enough ginger to make about 2 tbsp and add to saute mixture for a minute or so, if you have bay leaves, add a couple as well..
Add veggie or chicken stock (3-4 cups) with the veggies and let the whole thing simmer until the veggies are soft.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
Turn off the heat and use a handblender to puree right in the pot with a hand blender. This is now good to go, or you can add a can of coconut milk if you have some or peanut or other nut butter also makes a nice addition. Some grated orange zest and rosemary and roasted, chopped cashews would make a fine garnish with a dollop of sour cream or plain yogurt.
If you like it spicy, please feel free to incorporate some chilies at the saute stage and keep them in throughout!!!. Serve this with some crusty bread and a big green salad for a complete meal full of vitamins.
My favourite soup is my late Uncle Fred's Clam chowder soup. Made fresh and taste amazing - Thanks Uncle Fred.
