Green Hits the Big Screen in Sex and the City 2

A bag made from recycled candy wrappers made it onto the set and into the hands of Samantha Jones (played by Canadian actress Kim Cattrall) in the recently released Sex and the City 2.

Naturally the bag appeared in a shopping scene. It's called the Silver Mega and retails at US$178.

Want to buy one? Let us know and we'll see about bringing it into Canada for you. Contact us at customerservice@lavishandlime.com.

The Best Teacher Gift to Show Appreciation

We worked closely with our local Canadian jewelry designer to come up with what is perhaps the best teacher gift ever.

It's the apple inspire necklace made of sterling silver and three charms, including a Swarovski crystal. We've already road tested it as a preschool teacher gift - and it's worked a charm. She said she loved it.

For the apple inspire charm necklace and more great teacher gift ideas, visit Lavish & Lime. If you have any thoughts or ideas about teacher gifts in general, please leave a comment below. We'd love to hear from you.

World Oceans Day in Canada

From Cheticamp, Nova Scotia to Tofino, British Columbia and lots of places in between, Canadians will be participating in World Oceans Day 2010 today.

The concept for a “World Ocean Day” was first proposed in 1992 by the Government of Canada at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro. As a result of a United Nations General Assembly resolution passed in December 2008, World Oceans Day is now officially recognized by the UN as June 8th each year. Designation of World Oceans Day provides an important boost to those organizations and individuals who have been deeply committed to ocean conservation.

Why should we celebrate
World Oceans Day?

The world's ocean:
  • Generates most of the oxygen we breathe
  • Helps feed us
  • Regulates our climate
  • Cleans the water we drink
  • Offers us a pharmacopoeia of potential medicines
  • Provides limitless inspiration!
Check out how you can get involved in Canadian events being held coast to coast here.

We're particularly excited to see pics from Victoria, BC of the more than 1,000 children who will form the image of a Marbled Murrelet, a threatened west coast sea bird - in an aerial art event organized by the Oceans Day Festival Society.
