The best gift I've ever given to anyone was a Christmas Tree and a few presents! I was working for a Non Profit Immigrant Association and met a family who had nothing to help them celebrate their first Christmas in Canada.

Hubby and I, after work on Christmas Eve, went and found them a tree and bought her kids some gifts.

She was beyond appreciative and honestly, we felt fantastic!

Thanks

Last year we gave my dad a digital photo frame and loaded an SD card with all of our favourite photos from the year. He recently moved out west and as such doesn't get to see his grandkids much. He absolutely loved the gift and we loved giving it to him. This year, part of his gift is an updated SD card.

The best present I have ever given according to my daughter was a colorful pure silk scarf that my grandmother had given me shortly before she passed away. I really loved it but when she was a baby she grabbed onto it and it became her 'blanky'. She still has it in little bits and she's a teen. She says it's the best because even though I loved it I didn't mind.

Every year before Christmas I receive a huge frozen turkey from work. Every year I give the turkey to a local restaurant here in Ottawa that uses it to make a FREE Christmas dinner for the homeless. Also, normally, just before Christmas, I walk door to door in my neighboorhood and ask people to donate used blankets that I inturn go to the area downtown Ottawa and I give the blankets to the homeless to help them keep warm. The hugs I get from them for doing that and the look in their eyes, I can tell it gives them hope that the world can be good and people do care. At that point I realize...that is the best Christmas present. I could give another ! Merry Christmas everyone ! :)

the best Christmas present I have ever given was an orange. The year that our first daughter, Deborah, was 2 1/2 Grandma and Grandpa came to visit us and we allowed them to sleep in our room while we took the smaller one next to Deborah's room. It was tradition in my home to put nuts, candy and orange and a toy or two in Christmas stockings. For her stocking I had put the orange in first and on Christmas morning we woke up to Deborah excitedly exclaiming over her treasures. She found a Flintstones cup, which she loved, new mittens, the candy and nuts and then she found the orange. She was so excited she squealed, "an orange, an orange, I got an orange!". She had had oranges before but for some reason this one thrilled her. And, we were thrilled hearing her open her stocking.

Up until three years ago I lived in The Netherlands, born and raised there. Since then I moved and got married and had my twins. Last Christmas my family in The Netherlands was very sad as they had never met the twins (who were then 4 months old) yet. As a Christmas present to them we booked a trip to the Netherlands to show them the babies. That was the very best Christmas present ever!

I gave my sister-in-law's first baby a Warm Buddy sheep blanket! I also gave one to my two-year-old, now four, for Christmas. Both still have their blankets. Now my seventeen-month-old uses my four-year-old's!

Well, what *I* think was one of the best Christmas gifts ever given was when my SIL and I went through all of MIL's boxes of old photos, organized them into albums, including some digital scrapbooked pages, I thought it was awesome, and it took us FOREVER. MIL, on the other hand, smiled and thanked us politely, then burst into tears over the MICROWAVE that SIL and my husband decided last minute to get her also (because her's had died), so I guess THAT was the better gift from her point-of-view, shrug.

My mother in law told me a stories years ago about a beautiful ring she had as a young girl that went missing over time.

We gave her a new one, very similar in style with the same kind of stone one year. I think she was totally surprised and it was nice to give her that memory.

The best Christmas gift I've ever given is to tell my family that we were expecting. My hubby, kids and I kept the secret from the rest of the family (including our parents) for more than 6 weeks before Christmas!

I've been making little stuffed owls that can be used for ornaments or just general cute decor for everyone on my list this year. We also donate to the Food Bank every year. Those neoprene bags are super cute!

The best gift I've ever given was a digital photo book I made for my parents. They live in Calgary and we live in Vancouver but they somehow made it to all the important occasions in our daughter's first year of life. The book had all the pictures to show how thankful we are of them for being here for her and us. They were definitely over the moon when they opened the book.

The best gift I have ever given was warm food. After dinner was over there were so many leftovers that we took some paper plates and made meals for some of the homeless people. Each one was wrapped in tinfoil to keep it warm. We packed up the family and went in search of people in need. We managed to feed 6 people that we found. Just the smiles on their faces was enough to try to make this a yearly tradition!

When I was about eight I desperately wanted a pair of jeans, but my mother refused to buy them. My older brother got me jeans for Christmas, with wide flare legs - I thought they were soooo cool (have I dated myself enough?)

I think that the best gifts that I give are the toys that we buy every year for the toy drives. I like that they go to less fortunate children in our area and helps them have a Merry Christmas as well.

The best Christmas gift I've ever given was a package for a 9 yr old boy whose family was going through a rough time. Friends and I each took a family member and bought Christmas pressies for them. The best gift I've ever been given was finding out I was expecting my daughter :)(found out on Dec 24th no less!) Thanks for the great giveaway :)

I have a friend that we both try to think of something that is nothing that we have ever owned.
He gave me a tin and told me that I had to go and soak it in vinegar.
I opened the tin and saw that it was a ornament that had baking soda around it so I soaked it and saw that it was a heck of a lot of hair crammed in a clear ornament.
He came up behind me and pulled up his shirt. My Christmas gift was an ornament full of his chest hair!! I laughed for weeks!

The best gift I've ever given was a shoe box full of toys, candies and toiletries for a boy in Africa. It is done through an organization called samaritan's purse. I hope that one day I will be able to be one of the volunteers that travel there and hand out the gifts.

The best gift I've ever given was to my brother. Our Dad had passed away early December (a few years back) and for Christmas I gave him a framed photo of him and our Dad dressed in their tuxes - he loved it!
