My best Halloween costume was when I was eight years old. I went as the Queen of England. I had a long dress from a wedding party I was in, we made a crown out of tin foil and I took our dog, a Corgi, with us while I trick or treated :)

My best Halloween costume was in University. I was short on time and cash and finally went out as static cling. Some artfully hung socks and fabric softener sheets and voila.

As I kid I always had awesome hand-made Halloween costumes, thanks to my crafty mom. I remember two in particular. One year I dressed up as Rainbow Brite complete with the boots and crazy yarn wig. Another year, and this is still my favourite costume, I was Daisy Duck. I had "high-heeled" shoe covers, a padded duck-butt and a stuffed hood that looked like Daisy's head. It was so realistic that I could have been a mascot at DisneyWorld. :)

The best and worst costume I ever had was a year when I was 10 and I made my own costume. I covered a box in tin foil and used spice jar lids for knobs and went as a robot. I looked terrible, I couldn't walk and bobbing for apples was completely out of the question...but man was I proud and it's the only one I really remember!

One of th best costumes I had was when my twin sister and I dressed up as Ragadey Ann and Andy. We had the stripped socks, red hair for wigs and bright coloured clothes. It was great and a lot of fun!

My best costume was when I was about 10. I painted a box black, cut holes for my arms and head and put big white dots on it. I went as a dice, but with the colours reversed!

Here's one I can't blame on my mum!

My favourite Hallowe'en costume memory was when I was a pregnant nun for a friend's H party in London, UK. (A costume unashamedly nicked from the dynamic Mrs. B). Being a recent Vancouver transplant, I had a last minute attack of politically correct nerves, and phoned my hostess to ask if there would be anyone attending who'd be offended by my choice. My friend's Scottish and not-so-politically-correct husband laughed heartily that only a Canadian would phone ahead to check the appropriateness of their outfit!

Nevertheless it was very popular, and I think it won me a bottle of something sparkly. Up there with the Freudian Slip I wore the next year - but that's a tale for another day ....

I grew up in Thailand so I mostly missed out on Halloween. I moved to Vancouver when I was 12, and I was very excited to experience my first real Halloween that October. My costume wasn't very original though - my best friend and I went trick or treating dressed up as cheerleaders, pompoms and all!

As a child we always had homemade costumes, I don't think we even knew there was such things as store bought. We had a rotation between my brother and sister and myself. We took turns being a farmer, witch, and a ghost. You can imagine my brother always wanted to be the farmer.

Such great memories! Good.Honest.Fun!!
Thanks for a fun giveaway:)

My daughter's first Hallowe'en costume was by far the best costume in my Hallowe'en history - I made her a homemade pumpkin costume out of orange polar fleece with a little matching hat that looked like a pumpkin stem. It was my first attempt at making a Hallowe'en costume, and although it took a long time to figure it out, I did it! Next year, our second daughter (due December 9th) will wear the pumpkin costume for her first Hallowe'en too!

my Mom made almost all my costumes. I remember being a ghost when I was 2 wearing a white pillow case with a hole cut for my head and a witch when I was 12. but my my favorite was probably a tiger when I was 7. so many memories!!

A couple years ago I hung a mirror (about 8 by 10) as a necklace and when people asked me what I was I would say that I was a reflection of themselves...

I dressed as a stylish witch the last year I went halloweening (I was 14?) ... wore a pair of my grandmother's pencil stilettos and a beautiful black and multi-colour-striped full skirt ... We walked for a few km, my feet hurt like the bugger, but I felt fa.bu.lous.
